The Pilgrimage of San Francesco Walking Tour invites you to experience the serenity, history, and spiritual depth of the trail inspired by Saint Francis of Assisi—Italy’s beloved patron saint of peace, nature, and humility.

Highlights

  • Gubbio, one of the oldest towns in Umbria
  • Day 1 - 22km past S Maria della Vittorina where St. Francis met the ‘wolf’, up and down through plains, woods and valleys to the Castle of Biscina
  • Day 2 - 17 km - long descent with a few ups and downs to Valfabbrica, where Saint Francis stopped several times.
  • Day 3 - 12 km - several ups and downs through some woods to the magical town of Assisi
  • A day to stop and explore Assisi, with a guided morning tour of the Basilica
  • Day 5 - 16.5 km to Spello, Porta Cappuccini pass, cyprus trees, ancient oaks and medieval walls add to the atmosphere as you follow the panoramic road to a cave where St. Francis took refuge
  • Day 6 - 25 km - pass waterfalls and Via degla Ulivi to the beautiful village of Trevi
  • Back to Gubbio or more adventures in Italy
