Itinerary
You will be met at the airport and taken to your hotel. Early arrivals can enjoy a tour of Bangkok by night including night market.
Rest and relax for the day.
Overnight in Bangkok.
Note: for those who have already visited Bangkok then head straight to Kanchanaburi (depending on flight arrival time)
After a quick but informative orientation, you’ll set sail on a private longtail boat, gliding through Bangkok’s intricate canal system.
Visit must see marvels, see how the locals live and relish the street food that will make your taste buds sing. Delve deep into this pulsating fascinating city before returning to your hotel.
Once back, unwind at the hotel before we whisk you away to a local eatery for an authentic, palate-pleasing welcome dinner.
Transfer to the eastern city of Kanchanburi where you will visit the fascinating JEATH Museum and allied cemetery before walking across the iconic Bridge over the River Kwai (Khwae).
Later on this afternoon board the train which runs along the last remaining segment of what became known as the Death Railway. A beautiful journey made more moving by the knowledge of its harrowing creation. Arriving just after sunset at the end of the line, you’ll drive the short distance to your jungle retreat.
Here you’ll stay in chalets surrounded by tropical gardens high above the iconic river, alive with the sounds of the forest.
The cacophony of sounds of the jungle envelop you as you eat your breakfast on a terrace overlooking the River Khwae and watch the locals going about their daily business in their long-tail boats.
Visit the Hellfire Pass Memorial and historic walk for this morning’s activity. Stunning scenery rubs shoulders incongruously with one of war’s most inhumane creations. A time to pause and reflect on the changes to this region since then.
Later on this afternoon relax at the resort or go on a short hike to visit one of the famous local waterfalls for a leg stretch and cool dip in the water.
Families will enjoy the local jungle ziplining experience, and kayaking on the River Khwai (optional).
Today transfer to Hua Hin (c 3 hours without stops) to experience the laid back eastern side of the Gulf of Thailand. Far quieter than the western resort of Pattaya and the more popular islands this area is favoured as the summer retreat of the Thai royal family and away from the golf courses and Hua Hin is relatively undeveloped and a peaceful haven for those looking for something away from the crowds.
En route stop at the Tiger Cave Temple, famous for it’s enormous buddha stature at the top to which you can climb or take the rope shuttle train.
Later on stop at Phra Nakhon Khiri (Khao Wang), a historic palace complex completed in 1860, with a national museum. King Mongkut build the palace in European, Thai and Chinese style to escape from Bangkok to pursue his interest in astronomy.
Tonight you’ll be free to explore the hustle and bustle of downtown Hua Hin, eat at one of the stilted piers’ seafood restaurants and walk around the night market.
This morning relax on Hua Hin Beach – not as crowded or noisy as in other parts of Thailand.
This afternoon take a trip to nearby Khao Tao beach to visit the hilltop temple and stroll around the reservoir.
After breakfast, visit the Royal Palace of Hua Hin, comprising 3 wooden pavillions facing the sea, which is known as the ‘Longest Golden Teak Palace in the World’.
Continue to the small, laid back resort of Pranburi for a 4 night stay at a relaxed boutique beach resort overlooking the ocean.
Pranburi Beach is famous for its laid back beach vibe atmosphere. Sea breezes moderate the temperature and in winter it is a popular area for kitesurfing (hire centre on the beach).
Enjoy relaxing beside the beach, spa treatments for health and wellbeing, strolling or cycling on the 25km coastal path or around the laid back beach community and visit local attractions (optional):
Monsoon Valley Vineyard Visit
Thai Cookery Class
Thai Massage
Day Trip to Ao Manao Beach and afternoon wild elephant safari
Hike to the famous Phraya Nakhon Cave
Visit Pranburi Mangrove Forest Park and Beach
After breakfast, relax until departure to Bangkok and flight home.
